Manny Krakowski: Three Trophies, Some Cacti, & A Freezer
Edward Cella Art & Architecture is proud to present an exhibition of new sculptures by Manny Krakowski. This is the Los Angeles-based artist’s second solo exhibition with the gallery and includes new works from his series of glass sculptures and an analog based media installation, all shown for the first time.
Eight hand-blown and mirrored glass sculptures are arranged on custom pedestals of equal height. Three of the forms bear symmetrical profiles and monochrome, mirrored surfaces, installed on rectangular pedestals. Five additional forms are expressive and abstract, with colorful appendages that seem to grow and melt from the seamless surfaces and perfect contours of their bases, displayed on truncated pyramid pedestals.

In the southwest corner of the gallery, a separate room houses a single re-purposed ice-cream freezer that has been transformed into an analog 3D hologram machine. The appliance presents the illusion of two new glass sculptures that are displayed in offsite locations and available for viewing on request and by appointment only.
Together, the installations evoke a desert of cacti, a trophy shop, and an ice cream parlor, and conjures memories of a terrain in constant flux, with a glowing mirage always in sight.
