Ruth Pastine was born and raised in New York City where she went on to study at State University of New York College at Purchase, NY and the Rietveld Akademie, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The Cooper Union, New York, NY and a Master of Fine Arts Degree from Hunter College, City University of New York, NY. Her work is focused on the phenomenological investigation of color, light, and matter; questioning the visual experience and redefining the perceptual field.
