Alex Schweder’s “performance architecture” is based on the notion that relationships between occupied spaces and occupying subjects are permeable. Recent exhibition includes the Museum of Modern Art (NY, NY), Frey Art Museum (Seattle, WA), Wasserman Projects (Detroit, MI), The Storefront for Art & Architecture (NY, NY), the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SF, CA) and the 2014 Venice Biennale. Forthcoming exhibition includes a site-specific performance as part of Performa 2017 in New York City’s High Line park. The Pollack Krasner and Graham Foundations have both funded his projects and he has been an artist in residence at the Kohler Company, the Chinati Foundation, and The American Academy in Rome as the 2005-6 Rome Prize Fellow in Architecture. Schweder is the author of “Performance Architecture” (2016).
